INFORMATION ACROSS BORDERS

About Personlex

We make it easier to find background information about people, with searches across multiple countries and legal information brought together in easy-to-read reports.

An idea that became Personlex in 2023

Personlex began in 2023 with a clear ambition: to make background information more accessible and easier to understand. We wanted to bring together information that may otherwise be scattered across sources and countries, helping more people get a clearer picture without starting each search from scratch.

Today, we serve individuals and businesses, as well as media organizations and journalists. A free people search helps you find the right person. You can then order Personlexโ€™s own background report as a PDF.

For different questions and needs

Background information can be relevant in many contexts. We help you find source material, but you still need to confirm identity and read the information in context.

Individuals

For people seeking background information about, for example, a neighbor, partner or someone they are dating. Start with a search and confirm that the information concerns the right person.

Businesses

For businesses that need background information in a work-related context, such as information about an employee. The report is a source of information, not an automatic judgment about a person.

Media and journalists

For research where background and legal documents are relevant. Collected information can be a starting point for further investigation, source verification and a more nuanced picture.

Multiple countries. One search field.

Personlex offers people searches and background checks for Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and the United States. We combine available information from multiple countries and present it to the customer. When a person appears in legal documents from a country other than where they live, that information may also be included in the report.

Document availability and the information that can be displayed vary between people and countries. We do not promise that every report covers all countries or all convictions.

Official sources. A clear compilation.

We check that the legal information we present originates from official documents issued by justice authorities in the relevant country. The background report is based on official register extracts, judgments and other relevant justice-authority documents, not rumors or unverified claims.

The report is compiled by Personlex. It is not a government-issued criminal record extract and does not guarantee that all convictions or events are included.

Source origins

Legal information should be traceable to official source documents.

Understandable information

Details of judgments, events and penalties are presented in a consolidated PDF report.

The right person and context

Being mentioned in a document does not in itself mean that a person has been convicted. Always read the source material in context.
